Ukraine Mission

How It Started

Ukraine Map

Ukraine became an independent country in 1991, with the breaking apart of the Soviet Union. In 1992, the North Carolina Baptist Men went into Ukraine and began building Baptist Churches in villages. Two men from Chapel Grove Baptist Church travelled to Holosno Village in Zhytomir region and helped to build the church. In 2002, a group from Chapel Grove travelled to Ukraine on their first mission trip. Assistance was given to Holosno Church to build an adjacent Service Center. In 2003, Danny Cochran from Zion Baptist Church was invited to Ukraine by the group from Chapel Grove. This began the mission work of Zion Baptist Church that exists even today after 20 years.

War In Ukraine

Ukraine War 2

The most recent mission trip was September 2023 during the Russian war against Ukraine. The mission was to assist Grace Church in Korosten with helping military, refugees, and needy Ukrainians because of the war. Members of Zion Baptist Church, Chapel Grove Baptist Church, and Southminster Presbyterian Church had the opportunity to speak at Grace Church in Korosten.

Continuing The Mission

God has blessed the team going to Ukraine more than the team has blessed the Ukrainians. God has opened the door for His glory to shine in Ukraine. Continue to pray and support Ukraine in a war they did not ask to be part of but will defend their country with God’s help.
